معرفی مقام ها:
علمای فن قرائت به مرور زمان، متوجه شدند که آیات قرآن با توجه به دوری و نزدیکی معنایشان، دارای وزن و آهنگ خاصی هستند.
حتی در موسیقی ایرانی هم آهنگسازان مسلط و آشنا با توجه به شعر ملودی را دردستگاه خاص می‌سازند.
هفت مقام اصلی تلاوت قرآن را در عبارت صُنِعَ بِسَحَر یعنی ساخته شده در سحرگاه خلاصه کرده اند:
ص : مقام صباء
ن : مقام نهاوند
ع : مقام عجم
ب : مقام بیات
س : مقام سه گاه
ح : مقام حجاز
راء : مقام راست

مقام بیات:
وسیع‌ترین مقام در قرائت قرآن است و گوشه‌های بسیاری دارد قبل و بعد و حتی بین مقام‌های دیگر، قابل اجراست. معمولاً قرائت قرآن با این مقام آغاز می‌شود و با همین مقام پایان می یابد.

مقام رست:
اثر آن، برانگیختن حس مردانگی، جسارت و حرکت به سمت کشف حقیقت است و در آیاتی که داری تأکید و تحکم و امر است استفاده می‌شود. هرچند قابلیت تعمیم به انوع حالات مفهومی را دارد.

مقام حجاز:
مقام حجاز از مقام های اصیل عربی است که بسیار مورد استفاده قرار میگیرد چه در تلاوت قرآن چه در اذان.
اثر آن، شور و شعف همراه با احساسات عالی و حزین و دعوت به یکپارچگی و اتحاد و آرزو برای سعادت بشر است.

مقام صبا:
مقام صباء بسیار به مقام بیات نزدیک است ، اما از حزن بیشتری نسبت به مقام بیات برخوردار است.
مقام صبا مجموعه‌ای از نغمات حزین است که گذشته از دست‌داده را به تصویر می‌کشد و ما را به خویشتن خویش دعوت می‌کند

مقام نهاوند:
ماهیتی لطیف و منعطف از نظر لحنی دارد. نه خیلی خشن است و نه خیلی خفیف. یکی از کاربردهای آن بر اساس آنچه که مصطفی اسماعیل در یکی از مصاحبه هایش گفته بود ، در بیان داستان ها و قصص قرآنی است.

مقام سه‌ گاه:
این مقام از مقاماتی است که از نظر عاطفی و روحی حالت شادی در انسان ایجاد میکند.
برانگیزاننده حس محبت و عشق و سوز دل است و در آیاتی با مفاهیم عشق، وعده الهی، بشارت، مغفرت، صفات مؤمنان، پیروزی و اجابت دعا به کار می‌رود.

مقام عجم یا چهارگاه:
این مقام با ایجاد احساس،هیجان و شور ملی مناسبت دارد. بنابراین بسیاری از سرودهای کشور های مختلف در گام ماژور یا مقام عجم اجراء شده است.

اصطلاحات قرار ، جواب و جواب الجواب یعنی چه؟
اساتیدی که بنیان علم قرائت و تلاوت می باشند مقامات موسیقایی تلاوت را به سه بخش قرار ، جواب و جواب الجواب تقسیم می کنند.
پایین ترین درجه اجرا نت های موسیقایی به قرار ارتباط دارد.
در موسیقی مقامی عرب به اصوات بم، اصولاً قرار گفته می شود و لذا اگر کسی با صدای بم تلاوت خود را آغاز کند گفته می شود که وی با قرار شروع کرده است. قرار نیز به معنی آرام گرفتن است.

سومین و بالاترین درجه اجرا نت ها را به جواب الجواب نسبت می دهند. جواب جواب می بایست حداقل ارتباط را نسبت به قرار یعنی همان نت پایه را داشته باشد.
